Members of a cycling team mourned Thursday after five people who took part in an annual Nevada-California border ride were killed in a box truck collision. Three members of a group of about 20 riders were injured in a horrific crash, according to Fox 5 in Las Vegas. “Know that five of my best friends are dead now,” retired Las Vegas police officer cyclist Michael Anderson told the station. “We do this Nipton loop every year, no problem. This year was in the wrong place, at the wrong time. “Even though the case is under investigation, the speed of the truck may have been a major factor in the accident,” Anderson said.
