The F-16 jet crashed Tuesday night in the upper peninsula of Michigan. “We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time,” said Colonel Bart van Ru, commander of the 115th War Division. “Today is a day of mourning, and we mourn the loss of a great pilot and patriot along with the pilot’s family, along with the entire Wisconsin National Guard of the 115th Battalion.” The F-16 fighting Falcon crashed Tuesday night in Michigan, Texas at 8 p.m. The jet was assigned to the 115th Fighter Wing Unity of the Wisconsin Air National Guard, based on the Trooks Field Air National Guard base. The 115th Battalion, the U.S. Coast Guard, local first responders and other government agencies began searching for the missing pilot overnight after the crash. Tony Evers said he was “devastated” by the news of the crash on Wednesday. I was devastated last night to learn that a member of the Wisconsin Air National Guard was involved in an F-16 crash on the Upper Peninsula. As the search and rescue operations continue, Kathy and I look forward to the pilot’s safe arrival and pray. – The pilot will not be identified until Governor Tony Evers (ov Cove Evers) notifies their families on December 9, 2020.
