Toddler stabbed to death Canton police say a toddler was killed and a woman was seriously injured in a house killing. Canton, ca. – Police say a toddler died and a young woman was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the Canton subdivision on Tuesday afternoon. It happened at home with Mountain Vista PLT. Canton police said officers from the Mountain View subdivision arrived at the scene around 2:30 p.m. and found the two in an upstairs bedroom. The 13-month-old girl was taken to Northside Hospital in Cherokee, where she later died. That evening she was listed in bad condition. “Detectives are working very hard to find out what happened,” said Canton Police Officer Paceer Cotry. Police did not say if the girl was the baby’s mother. The two did not live in the house and only stayed there for a short time. Police say they are unaware of the relationship with the person living in the house at Mountain Vista PLD. There were 4 people in the house at the time of the stabbing. Investigators interviewed them for several hours to try to find out what happened. While the details surrounding the deadly stabbing are not yet known, police say they know it was definitely a tragedy. “It was hard for everyone when we were a child, for everyone involved, for the family members, for the paramedics, for our hearts, and for the officers who came to the scene,” said Cotry. Information about a suspect has not been released or arrested, but police said they do not believe there is a danger to the community at this time.
