The Pentagon announced Thursday that a pair of P-52 bombers had been detained in Parkstale, La. U.S.S. The military has taken other steps in recent operations, including the repatriation of the Nimitz aircraft carrier to the Middle East and the deployment of additional combat jet troops from Europe. The military official said the measures were designed to prevent Iran from taking any aggression against US and coalition forces in the region, and did not want to be named to discuss the measures. The official said the Pentagon was concerned that Tehran could take advantage of the presidential transfer and withdrawal of US troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, and the upcoming anniversary of the US assassination of Iranian leader Qasim Cholaimani. “It would be prudent to have a strong defensive posture in the area right now in all of this,” the official said, stressing that these actions were “not an attack in nature”. “There is no plan here to act. There is a plan to portray a strong defensive posture, which will give an opponent a break.” Most recently, this week’s “short-notice, non-stop” bombing plane was designed to show the military’s commitment to other countries in the region, according to a U.S. Federal Command report.
