Indie Houses art for the week-long festival

The indie boxes is a new initiative from a collection of seven independent game publishers, working together to better support each other and help gain more attention for the games they publish. Last night they hosted their first Indie Houses Direct, a one-hour presentation with 35 game announcements.

They are currently part of The Indie Houses Fury Raw, Akupara Games, Traveling Company, Neon doctrine, Those awesome guys, Whitehorn Games i Toge Productions. Among them are the publishers who have brought us games like this The Darkside Detective, Manifold Garden, Genesis Noir, Dandara, i Calico. The idea here was to navigate the current wave of Directs, like the recent one Healthy live, to attract more attention to interesting small projects that otherwise struggle to receive wider attention from the press.

The video, unfortunately, only available in 360p from 1997, begins with an introduction to the concept of detached houses, before moving on to each of the next seven publishers ’titles. Below are some of the highlights that stood out to me.

Glitchhikers: the spaces between

Glitchhikers It feels like one of those amazing podcasts that tells ass stories that can never be found again after you’ve heard it. After a 2014 experimental game by Silverstring Media developers, The spaces between it’s going to tell a weird, surreal story of quirky travels, and it looks great in the trailer. Is it like that which will have to come out next year.

The legend of Tianding

Set in Taiwan, The legend of Tianding is a side-scrolling platform that surpasses them with a beautiful-looking cartoon style and all sorts of derogatory performances. It seems a bit Streets of rage, but with some really interesting-looking combat techniques, especially that red band. Is it like that which is due out on October 27th.

Beacon pins

I have been looking forward a Beacon pins for a good while. It’s a sympathetic-looking third-person narrative-driven game, in which uncovered charms can be placed in a book that rewrites the story as you play it. Which is pretty baffling to experiment with, as it allows you to play the versions in which the most important characters die, and then rearrange the charms to tell the story in a totally different way. He just signed with Fellow Traveler, after a hit Kickstarter, and is which will have to come out next year.

Princess Farmer

It’s not a disappointing game to grow and market your own range of newly grown princesses, but it’s a puzzle game about … making friends with rabbits? Honestly, I’ve seen the trailer twice and I still have no idea what’s going on, which is possibly what I like so much. Is it like that which will have to come out later this year.

Damn

Much better seen here, than in the low definition showcase where it was incomprehensible, Damn is a super brutal FPS, very clearly inspired by Earthquake, and similar all kinds of macabre. He will have bullet time, of which there have been too few in recent games. There is an early access version on Steam already, and console versions to come next year.

Cycle of dreams

With one of the co-creators of Tomb Raider, Lara Croft Designer, Toby Gard, Cycle of dreams is to be a creepy first-person exploration of the Land of Dreams, which he says will allow you to use stealth, traps, and spells, along with brute force, to approach the game according to your favorite style. It’s worth noting that the game’s footage shown in the main show had a much slower pace than the frantic action of the previous trailer. It will be interesting to see Gard making a new vision after all these years (and after) Galleon). That arrives in Early Access next week.

It has gone viral

Out of advance access from yesterday, It has gone viral is a roguelite brawler created by former AAA developers who worked on games like Wildstar i City of Heroes. He seems completely manic, and he is comes out on Steam now.

Kana Quest

Despite being released in March 2020, this Japanese language learning game Kana Quest sneaked into the show for launching a demo for the first time. It is a puzzle game designed to teach you Japanese letters and is currently half price to celebrate the event.

lake

Launch today, lake is created in 1986, when a successful businesswoman returns to her small hometown to replace her father, a postal worker. It’s about changing the pace, getting to know the locals and building relationships. And, you know, delivering the mail. It’s a third-person adventure from Gamious, which hits Steam this afternoon.
