126 new COVID-19 cases reported on Big Island

The Hawaii Department of Health reported 763 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the total to 55,206 statewide. A new COVID-related death was reported.

A total of 126 new infections were identified on Big Island on Saturday. On Saturday, the Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency reported 1,575 active cases with 38 people hospitalized.

The two-week state average is now 659 new cases a day, with a test positivity rate of 7.9%. A map documenting new cases by districts on all islands can be accessed on the DOH website.

The count of cases by islands is as follows:

O’ahu: 39,096
Maui: 6,528
Hawaii: 6,291
Kaua’i: 971
Lana’i: 124
Moloka’i: 143
Pending: 0
Out of State: 2,053

A total of 3,149 people have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 563 have died.

To date, a total of 1,820,538 doses of the vaccine have been administered statewide, with 61.7% of the population fully vaccinated, with 69.9% receiving at least one shot.
