1,378 new cases are confirmed, 25 deaths related to COVID-19

SAINT ANTHONY – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff briefed the community on the local response to COVID-19 in its daily session Wednesday night.

Nirenberg reported 138,785 COVID-19 cases in total and 1,895 deaths in total in Bexar County, an increase of 1,378 new cases as of Tuesday. Nirenberg also confirmed 25 virus-related deaths.

Nirenberg called for a moment of silence to honor the dead of the virus.

The 7-day moving average of cases is 1,688, a slight decrease as of Tuesday.

City officials also reported that 1,411 patients are hospitalized, 393 in the intensive care unit and 237 in ventilators. 12% beds are available and 51% fans are available.

With high hospitalizations, officials expect more of this virus to die as the pandemic accelerates.

There have been 168 COVID-19-related hospital admissions in the last 24 hours, Nirenberg said.
