DETROIT – A winter weather advice is in effect in Detroit and all of southeast Michigan from midnight on Sunday to noon on Tuesday.
There is also a flood warning along the St. Clair.

The storm that brings snow and ice to both South and South Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi will turn into a major snowstorm for southern Michigan on Monday. Two waves of snow will arrive, with more fluid snow on Sunday and more intense snow on Monday afternoon. Prepare snow shovels and snowplows.
Sunday evening will be cloudy and very cold. Temperatures will be in the teens and low 20s. Scattered showers can occur before midnight.
There are two rounds of snow coming to Detroit and southeast Michigan from Sunday night through Tuesday morning.

The first round comes after Sunday at midnight. Night lows will be in the upper digits as snowfall crosses the region. Much of the snow will have subsided by Monday morning, with 1 to 3 inches possible in the middle of the morning.
On Monday afternoon it will be mostly cloudy and very cold. The highs will be for average teens.
The second round of snow will affect the region from Monday afternoon until Tuesday morning. The snow will be more extensive and intense. At the end of Tuesday morning, a supplement 3 to 7 inches of snow buildup are possible.
A great total of 6 to 9 or 10 inches of snow is possible. Higher amounts of snow (7 to 10 inches) will be more likely in the areas closest to the Great Lakes and the Detroit River and the St. Louis River. Clair (from Port Huron to Mt. Clemens, Monroe and Luna Pier). Lower snow accumulations, which will still be significant (5 to 8 inches), will occur in neighborhoods much further north and west of Detroit (Livingston County via Flint, Lapeer and Sandusky).

Tuesday will be very cold, with afternoon temperatures in the upper teens.
Wednesday will be partly sunny and cold. Daytime temperatures will be down in the 1920s.
There is a chance of snow showers on Thursday. Highs will be close to 30 degrees.
On Friday and Saturday there will be a mix of clouds and sun. The highs will be in the mid-20s.
