2,083 new COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths were reported in Utah on Sunday

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Department of Health on Sunday reported 2,083 Govt-19 cases and 17 new deaths confirmed by health in Utah.

This brings Utah to a total of 233,904 confirmed cases and 1,055 deaths since the outbreak.

In December alone, 184 Utahs are said to have died. Nearly half – 451% of Utah deaths have been reported since the beginning of November.

New figures show 9,668 more Utons were tested than Saturday’s numbers. In total, Utah has now conducted 2,340,571 trials for 1,575,222 different individuals.

There are currently 548 Utahs admitted to the hospital due to the corona virus, of which 215 are in intensive care. The total number of hospital admissions has dropped slightly from 595 reported a week ago, but the number in intensive care has not changed from 213 last week. The Department of Health monitors ICU performance as a whole at “referral centers” or 16 hospitals. Ideal for caring for patients with corona virus. The department says almost 97% of all Utah ICU beds are filled, and more than 100% – 469 of the 461 beds available are filled at its referral centers.

Last week, the state averaged 2,633 new cases per day and a positive test percentage of 24.6.

State leaders will give an update on the local corona virus situation at a news conference this weekend; The conference usually takes place on Thursdays.

Utah expects to receive its first dose of Pfizer corona virus vaccine on Monday, and may start vaccinations this week. U.S. first vaccine exports left a manufacturing facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Sunday. The vaccine will first be available to teachers, leading health workers and nursing home residents in Utah.

In an email, the health department said the new deaths included eight residents in long-term care facilities:

  • Utah County Woman Over 85
  • An Iron County man aged 65 to 84
  • Weber County man, 65 to 84 years old
  • Weber County man over 85 years old
  • Salt Lake County woman over 85 years old
  • Salt Lake County man over 85 years old
  • Two Salt Lake County men aged 65 to 84

These include the six utensils admitted to the hospital at the time of their death:

  • Salt Lake County woman aged 65 to 84
  • Salt Lake County man aged 45 to 64
  • Washington County man aged 45 to 64
  • Washington County woman aged 25 to 44
  • Utah County Woman Over 85
  • Utah County man aged 65 to 84

The three dead were not admitted to hospital at the time:

  • Morgan County man aged 65 to 84
  • Utah County man over 85 years old
  • Weber County woman over 85 years old

Method:

Test results now include data from PCR tests and antigen tests. Positive COVID-19 test results are reported to the health department as soon as they are confirmed, but negative test results are not reported within 24 to 72 hours.

The total number of cases reported by the Utah Department of Health each day since the outbreak in Utah, including the current victims, survivors and deaths.

Recovered cases are defined as having not been infected with COVID-19 and died three or more weeks earlier.

The recommended hospitals are the 16 best Utah hospitals that have the potential to provide the best COVID-19 health care.

According to the Department of Health, deaths reported by the state usually occur two to seven days earlier. Some deaths may still be behind, especially if the person is from Utah, but dies in another state.

The Department of Health reports confirmed and possible COVID-19 case deaths within the case limits defined by the State Council and regional epidemiologists. The death toll is subject to change once the trial is over.

For deaths that are said to be COVID-19 deaths, the Department of Health says the person would not have died without COVID-19.
