A group of 21 people, 17 men and four women, were arrested this Friday morning on the northwest coast of Racó, in an attempt to arrive illegally in Puerto Rico, local police have reported.
The intervention by agents of the United States Maritime Rapid Action Forces (FURA) Unit of the U.S. Police and Coast Guard occurred at 01.00 (05.00 GMT) local time three nautical miles (5.6 kilometers) from the coast of the lighthouse from Punta Figuera to Rincón, have been detailed by the security forces.
According to preliminary information from the Police, the intervention took place during a maritime surveillance by FURA officers, who detected a boat devoid of navigation lights.
Upon sighting the boat, they mobilized in the area, discovering that in it were traveling the 21 people of undefined migratory status at the time.
The respondents were in apparently good health.
Coast Guard officers took care of these.
