So much for the general rehearsal game. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll had hinted earlier this week that the starters could have playing time in tonight’s preseason finale against the Chargers. That doesn’t seem to be the case, though.
General manager John Schneider shared the news during his radio spot that the team will not have 23 players available tonight.
John Schneider explains @ RaibleKIRO7 in the pre-match program that 23 players will not play tonight, so this is likely to mean that many beginners will be spectators again. This second-round pick, Dee Eskridge, will have playing time, though. #Seahawks

That means we probably won’t see several key offensive headliners, such as Russell Wilson, DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Chris Carson, all of whom have held up all preseason so far.
These players have been active during the warm-ups, which is another indication that they will not play.
Metcalf. Wilson. Lockett. Everett works out before the pre-match warm-up before getting dressed. The same simulacrum as the first two preseason games, which would lead him to assume .. not to play like the first two games. #Seahawks pic.twitter.com/5cwhla120N

On the plus side, we’ll probably see debutant receiver Dee Eskridge debut. There are also several position battles worth following, including center points and both off-corner.
It looks like this beginner rest plan will be the MO during the preseason in the future. Schneider called it a “revolution.”
Schneider says the Seahawks are in a “revolution” in terms of how they handle the preseason. This may be the norm to move forward, as few beginners really play to protect them.
