248 new cases of COVID-19 were announced on Sunday, no new deaths and 17,268 vaccines

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah reports Sunday 248 new cases of COVID-19, with no new deaths and 17,268 new vaccinations, according to the Utah Department of Health.

The continuous seven-day average for positive cases is now 394. The seven-day continuous average for percentage of positivity calculated by the “people on people” method is 7.1%, the health department announced. The continuous average of 7 days according to the “test over test” method is 3.6%.

A total of 1,897,531 vaccine doses have been administered in the state, compared to a total of 1,880,269 the day before.

There are currently 133 Utahns hospitalized for COVID-19, compared to 140 hospitalized on Saturday. A total of 15,910 Utahns have been hospitalized for COVID-19.

Utah has conducted 7,396 new tests since Saturday, bringing the total number of tests conducted in the state since the pandemic began to 4,475,591. As of Saturday, COVID-19 screening tests were performed on 4,112 people, bringing the total number of Utahns to 2,490,394.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox presented an update on the COVID-19 pandemic Thursday at a PBS Utah press conference.
