279 girls rescued days after the abduction by armed “bandits” at the Nigerian boarding school

About 300 abducted students have been rescued in the state of Zamfara, Nigeria, the governor announced on Tuesday. Now the girls are waiting to be seen by health workers before reuniting with their families. “Alhamdulillah! (Praise be to God!) My heart rejoices to announce the freedom of the abducted students, “Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle said on Tuesday.” I ask all well-meaning Nigerians to rejoice with us as our daughters now they are safe. ”Matawelle said the“ bandits ”were responsible for the kidnapping.

The students, all girls, were abducted on Friday when armed gunmen stormed government girls ’high school in Jangebe around 1:30 a.m. local time. Residents living near the school told The Daily Beast that they reported “strange men” in the area to authorities before the attack. At least 315 girls were reported missing on Friday and it is unclear why only 279 people were found this week.
