About 300 abducted students have been rescued in the state of Zamfara, Nigeria, the governor announced on Tuesday. The students, all girls, were abducted on Friday when armed gunmen stormed government girls ’high school in Jangebe around 1:30 a.m. local time. Residents living near the school told The Daily Beast that they reported “strange men” in the area to authorities before the attack. At least 315 girls were reported missing on Friday and it is unclear why only 279 people were found this week.
