According to the health department, the average number of positive cases per day seven days a day is about 400 cases a day. That is down six from Saturday, according to updated data.

The Utah rate has been above 400 new cases a day since September 9, 2020. It reached 3,392 new cases a day in November and 3,258 a day in early January.

Meanwhile, the percentage of positive tests per day for this time period communicated with the “people on people” method is now 7%. The positive seven-day test rate calculated using the “test over test” method is 3.4%.

The health department reported Sunday that 14,350 more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered. In all, about 1.5 million vaccines have been administered statewide.

About 975,000 Utahns have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and the state is expected to exceed one million this week. The state reports that 564,824 Utahns have been “completely vaccinated,” meaning they have received both doses of a two-dose vaccine or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is a single-dose vaccine.

The health department also reported Sunday that there are 129 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Utah because of COVID-19. That’s five less than was reported Saturday. Forty-five of these hospitalized patients were in intensive care units.

Sunday’s totals give Utah 387,341 confirmed cases in total, with 15,608 total hospitalizations and 2,132 total illness deaths since March 2020. New figures indicate an increase of less than 1% in positive cases since Saturday.

Of the more than 2.4 million people tested so far by COVID-19 in Utah, 1.6% have tested positive for COVID-19.
