SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Department of Health on Sunday reported 396 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, along with six more deaths from the disease and 15,861 more vaccines administered against it.
Now the state makes an average of 507 new cases a day and a positive test rate of 4.12% over the past week.
There are currently 167 Utahns hospitalized according to COVID-19, including 63 in intensive care. Sunday’s figures come as 7,397 more tests were conducted.
Overall, the state has confirmed 378,379 cases of COVID-19 and conducted 4,007,693 tests. It has administered 1,009,029 vaccines, exceeding one million, as promised by Governor Spencer Cox on Saturday, and lost 2,027 residents due to the virus.
“The state of Utah today reached a significant milestone in the battle against COVID-19. More than one million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to the state,” the department said. health in a statement. “For those of you who have already received your shots, thank you. For the rest, please get the shot when it’s your turn. It’s how we get our lives back.”
Of these more than one million vaccines administered, 365,176 Utahns are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Full vaccination requires one dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine or two doses of Modern or Pfizer vaccines.
The six deaths reported on Sunday were:
- A Davis County man in his 85s who resided in a long-term care center
- A 45- to 64-year-old Salt Lake County man who was hospitalized when he died
- A Utah County woman between the ages of 65 and 84 who resided in a long-term care center
- A 65- to 84-year-old Utah County man who was not hospitalized when he died
- Two Utah County men between the ages of 45 and 64 hospitalized
There are no coronavirus press conferences scheduled for state leaders over the weekend. Cox will hold its regular weekly press conference later this week; the conference usually takes place on Thursdays.
