4 captures COVID-19 after vaccines, but prevents serious illness

Four people in Oregon who were fully vaccinated recently tested positive for COVID-19, health officials said Friday.

Two of the “advanced cases” have been reported in Yamhill County, and the others in Lane County, the Oregon Health Authority he said in a statement.

All four individuals contracted the virus 14 days after receiving the second dose of the vaccine, the OHA said, adding that their symptoms were not mild.

Health officials say the less severe cases of COVID-19 reported after inoculation show the vaccine is still effective.

“Clinical trials of the two vaccines currently in use included advanced cases. In these cases, although participants received COVID, the vaccines reduced the severity of the disease, ”says the OHA, which investigates the origins of the cases.

The results of genomic sequencing samples taken from the four patients are expected next week, officials said.

Officials added that they hope to see more advanced cases and encourage the public to continue wearing face masks, as well as to follow the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
