55 hours of rescue !: Ashley Judd’s painful journey after accident in the jungle of Africa where he almost lost a leg and even his life

The movie star recounted the odyssey she lived in the Republic of Congo after breaking her leg into four parts. Judd was transported on makeshift bunks, motorbikes and small planes to a hospital with more capacity to operate in South Africa.

Since last February 12, the UN Goodwill activist and ambassador had not shared anything on her Instagram profile; it was not until yesterday that Judd revealed images and videos of the odyssey he lived to fall into the jungle and break his leg bone into four parts.

According to her message, it took more than 25 hours of rescue until she managed to get to a hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa, so that they could intervene in an emergency. The renowned actress showed that she was taken in makeshift bunks through the jungle, she needed a motorcycle, a van and a plane to get to a care center with greater capacity for intervention and specialized equipment.

“I arrived at them from the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) in a terrible state and my leg had no dust. I desperately needed a blood transfusion,” Judd’s extensive message in gratitude to the staff of the Sunninghill Hospital, especially its team of nurses and the surgeon who was at the forefront of their case.

The “High Crimes” actress is deeply grateful to her fellow Congolese and their extreme care despite the precariousness of the jungle. In some of her photographs she shared the faces of men and women who stood by her side for more than five hours until Judd could be cared for by professionals.

But things did not end at the hospital in the South African capital, no. Judd had to travel to the United States for another operation; so he had to prepare for another 22-hour trip and four flights in an air ambulance. They finally took part in another eight-hour operation where “they repaired the bones, decompressed the hermorrhagic nerve and removed the bone fragments in the nerve.”

The famous actress also revealed that her father received the news with a very harsh and direct message: “emergency, I can’t answer the questions, please come now.” Without hesitation Judd’s parent moved to South Africa to accompany his daughter in this accident.

After two surgeries, the actress recovers from a spectacular fall.

The end of this story is positive, but the road to recovery will be long. Judd closed his message very emotionally, stating that without the help of the Congolese he might have lost his leg and perhaps even his life.
