69 Wake County students tested positive for coronavirus in one week :: WRAL.com

More than a hundred Wake County officials and students have tested positive for coronavirus in one week, according to the district’s coronavirus scorecard.

Sixty-nine students tested positive for coronavirus from December 10 to 16 and 59 staff tested positive.

The first cluster of coronaviruses was also reported in the Lynn Road Elementary School district. Three staff members and two students tested positive at the school.

The previous week, Dec. 3-9, more than 80 cases of the virus were reported across the district.

According to the board, most cases are found at various schools in the district. The Wake County Board of Education agreed Tuesday with a staff recommendation that all students return to remote learning only by the end of the fall semester.

All students will move on to online learning from January 4 to January 15, when the semester ends.

Since Thanksgiving, Wake County has seen an increase in the number of cases of the virus. More than 400 cases were reported in Wake County on Wednesday. At the same time last month, only 232 cases of the virus were reported in one day.
