The Chargers fired head coach Anthony Lynn on Monday, a day after the team finished the 2020 season with a 7-9 record. Lynn finished with a 33-31 record in her four seasons with the Chargers.
Lynn, hired in 2017, began leading the Chargers toward consecutive winning seasons, including a 12-4 record and a playoff win against the Baltimore Ravens in 2018. But the team came back significantly over the past two seasons in part. due to the terrible luck of injuries, and the limitations of Lynn as coach of games and time were exposed in a series of near losses. The Chargers finished 5-11 in 2019 and a team that suffered major injuries this season struggled again despite a record debutant season for quarterback Justin Herbert.
