Georgia mother facing murder charge after stabbing 5 and 6 children, police say

Bernice Jaramillo-Hernandez, 26, faces two counts each in gruesome homicide, malicious homicide and gruesome assault on Friday, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said, adding that the incident would “break the heat.”

On Saturday evening the authorities informed the next of kin of the siblings that Jaramillo-Hernandez would be charged.

Police received a 911 call Friday afternoon about a woman who had cut herself. When they arrived at his home east of Keynesville, an hour ‘s drive north of Atlanta, delegates found the bodies of the injured mother, Madio Miranda Jaramillo, 5, and Katherine Miranda Jaramillo, 6.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation, which is in its infancy, “killed Jaramillo-Hernandez with a knife and then returned the knife to himself, causing serious injuries.”

The mother was taken to a medical center. The sheriff’s office said Saturday night that he would be formally charged after doctors treated his injuries. It was not immediately clear if Jaramillo-Hernandez had a lawyer. CNN has approached the sheriff’s office for further comment.

On Friday, before the mother was named as a suspect, the sheriff’s office said the incident was isolated and no other suspects were being sought.

“There is no danger to the community as a result of this incident,” the sheriff’s office said.

Police said there was no motive. The investigation is ongoing.
