Authorities are investigating a suspicious death following the discovery of a student’s body on a college campus in western Michigan.

The student reportedly studied at Grand Valley State University in Allendale.

The body of a student who was jogging on Saturday morning was found near the athletic areas used for infrared sports.

Grand Valley University Police Capt. Jeffrey Stole told the student newspaper Grand Valley Light that the death was initially considered “suspicious.”

According to WOOD-TV, Grand Valley President Plomina Mandella said: “This is a shocking and shocking event for all of us.

“This tragedy is a reminder of the importance of every member of our university community,” he said. “Please keep the student’s family in your thoughts and offer your support to those who have lost a friend and fellow student.”

The station said police patrolled the area around a vehicle parked near where the body was found.
