IT company Solar Winds says it may have been affected by the ‘sophisticated’ hack

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Tracking of products released in March and June this year may have been implicitly distorted in “a nationwide sophisticated, targeted and manual supply chain attack,” IT company Solar Winds said Sunday.

The report comes as the U.S. intelligence community is urgently investigating the violations of several government agencies, including the U.S. Treasury and Commerce Department. Two people known to the investigation said the breach – linked to a previously announced intrusion into cybersecurity firm FireE – is now believed to be the work of Russians.

Solar Winds did not comment directly on the violations, but said it was “working in close coordination with the Fire Bureau, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the intelligence community and other law enforcement agencies.” Therefore, we are limited in what we can share at this time. ”
