Lawrence, 43, brother of Craig Melvin, has died of colon cancer

Craig Melvin mourns the death of his 43-year-old brother Lawrence, who died Wednesday of colon cancer at the age of 43.

“We lost our older brother this week,” 41, co-host of the “Today” show, posted on Instagram on Saturday.

“Lawrence Meadows is a husband (to Angela, his childhood sweetheart), father (Audi, 11 and Lawson, 7) Baptist minister, entrepreneur and one of the best men you know,” he continued.

In 2017, Melvin discussed his brother’s health war “today”, revealing that Lawrence was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at the age of 39.

“You never wanted to hear about being diagnosed with cancer, so when I got a call about someone I loved, it made me cringe,” Melvin said at the time.

In October 2016, doctors removed a baseball-sized tumor from Lawrence’s abdomen and found that the cancer had spread.

“Colon cancer robbed him and us so much,” Melvin continued Saturday. “He was diagnosed at the age of 39. He died at the age of 43 on Wednesday.”

Lawrence noted that “Lawrence has” spent a fair amount of time raising awareness about the disease over the past few years. “

“We will continue that fight,” Melvin concluded. “We love you, bro.”

Within the United States, colon cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related death in both men and women, excluding skin cancer, according to the American Cancer Society, which states that it is “the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women.” ”
