Over the weekend, the Google search website turned gray and black for some people who used a dark theme on their desktop computers. It looks like the company is testing the right dark mode for its desktop website, but for now, it has already disappeared for those who initially tested it. If we weren’t for another flip-flop experience with Google Maps (which has its own dark mode and disappears several times a year), we could quickly enjoy our web searches immersed in an eye-pleasing darkness. Mode.

The dark mode we found in both Chrome and Edge is similar to what you can find in the Google search Android app. The Google logo loses its colors and turns white, and the background of the entire website is immersed in dark gray. The patch colors are reduced to pastels, and the divider and card exteriors are slightly brighter than in light mode. Overall, it looks like it’s already done, with no weird reading or coloring issues. Another variation below leaves parts of the colorful Google logo intact, but only because it is one of Google’s many doodles.

Hopefully Google will start creating dark mode for everyone soon. Maybe the company will bring it when it is on mobile. In the meantime, you can get a view of a completely dark web by enabling the Force Dark mode flag (dark chrome: // flags / # enable-power-dark), but beware: go this route when a lot of websites appear to be broken while you are there.
