Auburn has severed ties with the head coach Gus Malhan On Sunday, the Tigers decided to go on to win the regular season final 24-10 in the state of Mississippi. In his eighth season, Malhan’s path was going in the wrong direction for Auburn Brass, who expects to compete for the SEC Western Power League and national titles – not battling to be in the top 25.
Malhan finished 68-35 on the plains in his first season, including the SEC Championship and his second trip to the league final in 2017. Since that 10-win season, the Tigers have been just 14-12 in the SEC game.
Auburn Malhan will have to make substantial purchases, half of which will be borrowed over the next 30 days. Auburn, the third SEC job to open this season, has joined South Carolina – who welcomed Shane Beamer as its new head coach last week – and Vanderbilt.
The Tigers are expected to move faster for rent with an initial signing period starting this week. CBS Sports has revealed its initial hotboard in Auburn’s search.
