On October 22, Ohu moved to the lower control tier 2 of Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell’s four-tier economic recovery plan. The mayor’s office says the city takes a “weekly assessment” every Wednesday of two major COVID-19 numbers to see if Honolulu will move to another level. To move from Tier 2 to Tier 3, the 7-day average of new cases must be below 50 on two consecutive Wednesdays. Also, the 7-day average positive rate on those two Wednesdays should be less than 2.5%.
According to Caldwell, Ohu’s seven-day average case count today is 84 and the positive rate is 3.0%.
