Pasadena, Texas – Four Pasadena police officers were involved in a shooting that killed the driver of a vehicle that was being driven into southeast Houston, police said.
The shooting reportedly took place at 4pm on Sabo Road near Fuka Road.
Wendy Pimbridge, assistant chief of the Houston Police Department, said a Chevrolet SUV was reported stolen in Houston on Monday morning. He said the on-star vehicle was found and closed in the Pasadena area. He said Pasadena police officers responded to the scene and the occupant of the vehicle put a gun to his head. Pasadena officials retreated, he said.
Pymbridge said the man jumped out of the SUV and into a white space with a key inside. When Pasadena officers chased the vehicle, the man struck other vehicles on the Gulf Freeway and drove off the road.
Pymbridge said Pasadena authorities were able to pick up the pickup after the man lost control near Sabo and Foucault.
Pasadena Police Chief Josh Brooker said the man had stamped a weapon and four officers fired several rounds, killing the man.
Video of the Sky 2 showed a white pickup truck ‘s windshield being damaged by bullet holes. The driver’s side window also appeared to be broken.
No officers were injured.
The identity of the man was not immediately released.
