Governor Andrew M. Cumo today announced updated COVID-19 microcluster focus zones in New York State. The Niagara County Yellow Warning Zone will be expanded. New Yellow Warning Zones will be added to Batavia, Genece County and Rome and Utica, Onida County.
“There is no politics or rhetoric in the number of people going to the hospital. If nothing changes by January, hospital admissions will drown some areas.” Governor Cuomo said. “This is the path we are looking at and trying to change. We are simultaneously increasing the capacity of the hospital and, frankly, changing the way hospitals operate. At the same time we need to slow down the spread by doing what we know – social distance, wearing masks and avoiding meetings. If we do not, a region We know what’s closing. It’s called a red zone. This is a situation we are trying to avoid. “

On Friday, the NYS Department of Health outlined new measurements, including the state’s winter program, when a section of the “yellow zone” is eligible to enter the micro-cluster area. A geographical area would be eligible to enter the yellow zone if it had a positive rate of 3 percent over the past 10 days (7-day average) and the first 10 percent in the state where the individual was admitted to the hospital last week. Has been experiencing a weekly growth in daily additions. Based on these criteria, the following areas are now designated as Yellow Precautionary Zones:
