Outdoor feeding will be suspended at 2pm on Wednesday at the Big Apple because the cleaning department issued a “snow alert” ahead of the upcoming winter storm, which could spill more than 8 inches of white matter.
The cleanup department predicts the outdoor dining closure will last until Thursday night – but warned it could be pushed back to Friday depending on total snowfall and road conditions.
The company said restaurants will not be forced to remove outdoor dining systems for the storm.
But, restaurants are required to keep all electric heaters off, are urged to protect roadside tables and chairs, and are encouraged to remove overhead covers.
In addition to suspending outdoor meals to help with their snow removal efforts, the cleaning department canceled the alternative side stop for Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The temporary outdoor dining suspension comes two days after the city banned indoor dining.
