Santa Barbara County today announced the highest daily case count of COVID-19 on December 14, 2020. An increase in these cases is expected by local health professionals two weeks after the Thanksgiving holiday. Directly related to gatherings of family and friends.
“Today’s positive case count is higher than any other daily number we have seen to date, and underscores the predictions we would expect if people continued to gather outside their immediate homes,” says Van Do-Rhinoso, director of public health in Santa Barbara County. “We are in a state of emergency as the availability of ICU beds is rapidly declining.”
With a dramatic spike in positive events, the Department of Public Health is quick to reach out to everyone who has tested positive for the new, but the resources extend beyond anything previously seen, even with increased efficiency programs. Helping the public is very important. If people have tested positive for the virus, they should follow isolated guidelines and take immediate action to isolate themselves from others by staying home when notifying others in close contact with them.
“We have reached a number of cases that surpass all previous records,” says Do-Rhinoso. “Every person needs to take action now and stay home. We are on the horizon of seeing our health care system being violated. We need to take immediate action because our results now see a price to pay, and it is costing the lives and well-being of our community members.”
