In an interview with Fox News on Monday afternoon, White House Press Secretary Kaylee McNani sought to deny President Trump’s denial that senior White House officials would be at the forefront of accessing the COVID-19 vaccine as a selfless act.
Hours after the Pfizer vaccine began being sent out on Sunday, the New York Times and Bloomberg, Trump and senior White House officials – who have repeatedly underestimated the severity of the epidemic and have thrown largely unmasked and crowded holiday crowds at the White House grounds – will have access to it in the next few days.
On Sunday night, Trump dismissed reports by tweeting that White House staff would “get vaccinated sometime later in the program, especially if not necessary” – a “fix” that the sitting president seemed to be patting himself on the back.

Trump foot soldier McCann took a note from the president when he appeared on Fox News the next day.

McNani reiterated that “there will be a continuation of the government” while Trump encourages a selfless approach to who should be at the forefront of getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
Trump has not yet commented on the record increase in COVID-19 cases nationwide, which has so far killed nearly 300,000 people.
“But he’s not ashamed to say he’s number one, it’s very vulnerable, it’s our heroic leading workers – who should be the best person of the year,” McCann said. “It should be our residents in long-term care facilities.”
