The CEO of the National Association of Theater Owners, Jonathan Fithian, about the need to stimulate his industry and the news that Warner Bros. will simultaneously release all 2021 movies in theaters and HBO Max.
Warner Bros. has changed the release dates of some of its most anticipated titles once again in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
The films “Mortal Kombat”, “Tom and Jerry” and the science fiction drama directed by Hugh Jackman “Reminiscence” have seen their release windows adjusted in 2021. The move comes as the studio continues to play with his usual release method while in theaters. they remain closed and the public continues to avoid visiting their local cinema in an effort to reduce the spread of the virus.
According to Variety, the adaptation of the video game “Mortal Kombat”, which was initially scheduled for release on January 15, will now be released on April 16. This is a “Reminiscence” from its mid-April version to a version still for a certain date. Meanwhile, the live-action hybrid hybrid “Tom and Jerry” moved one week to February 26 instead of March 5.
All three films will be subject to Warner Bros. ‘A bold launch plan announced earlier this month that will see every 2021 release also debut on the same day on its HBO Max broadcast service. The outlet reports that all Warner Bros. movies. which are released to the streaming service will be available for 31 days before playing only in theaters until the on-demand video release window is completed.

The move follows Warner Bros. ‘decision to put “Wonder Woman 1984” on HBO Max this month, in addition to falling into theaters. The decision shook the already endangered theater industry, which recorded record closures and much lower-than-average box office numbers at this time of year.
