TAMPA, Florida – The Hillsborough County Water Resources Department has issued a boiling water warning notice to customers in the Northwest Hillsborough County area.
Hillsborough officials said a contractor was working on the Citrus Park road project and hit a major water line around 4:05 p.m. Tuesday.
The incident happened just north of the Fawn Ridge water treatment plant, 9564 Exposition Drive, Tampa, near Sheldon Road and Fawn Ridge Boulevard.
The boundary of the affected area lies west of the Veterans Expressway to Ehrlich Road and west of Gunn Road to Racetrack Road to the Pinellas County line.
Water service has been restored, but customers in the affected area are advised to boil water.
The county said in a press release, “While contamination is unlikely to occur in the system, the notice means that customers are warned, as a precautionary measure, that all water used to Boil, cook, make ice, brush your teeth or wash dishes are boiled, just boil for a minute, cool before use. bottled water may be used. “
This boiling water caution warning will remain in effect until health department tests show the water is safe to drink.
