Cyberpunk 2077 has had a pretty turbulent release, with many praising the fascinating history and open world, while others have criticized its low performance. Even those running the Nvidia GeForce RTX 20 series saw frame rates drop well below the average of 60 fps they would expect with only average settings, including yours really.
It turns out that some of these issues come from configuration files that reserve the same amount of memory and VRAM on your PC as on your console, regardless of how much your system runs. Of course, CD Projekt Red developers are likely to have a quick review to end the problem, but you don’t need to turn your thumbs up if you feel like playing and don’t want to suffer from slide show.
Instead of playing frantically with the Cyberpunk 2077 PC setup for good frame rate, ThePhoenixRoyal details the subreddit of how you can immerse yourself in the configuration files to change the settings, but be aware that you crawl the settings can crash your game or Windows – so stay at your own risk.
Make sure no boot the game before changing the configuration files.
The path to the memory group budget configuration file you are looking for will vary slightly depending on the platform on which you purchased Cyberpunk 2077, but should always be within the game engine and configuration subfolders. We use Steam as an example here:

Open the file using any text editor, such as Notepad. What you’ll notice when you first enter is that “PoolCPU” has 1,536 MB reserved, which is a fraction of the 8 GB needed to meet the minimum requirements. ‘PoolGPU’ also has 3GB of screen, making it the same as Durango and Orbis, which is what works with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 respectively.
Ideally, you’d prefer your PoolCPU to be equal to half your total RAM capacity: if you have 16 GB, for example, you’ll want to hit the figure of “1,536 MB” to “8 GB.” However, PoolGPU should be the full VRAM that your graphics card can offer. It is best to look for your exact model, but an example of this would be to change the “3 GB” to “8 GB” if you have an RTX 2080. Once you have entered the desired values, save the document and start the game.
This is not an attractive solution to performance issues you may experience and your mileage may vary when it comes to frustrating known bugs in this way, but this method has greatly improved the experience of some players here at PCGN. .
However, after exploring further, it seems that this is the memory reserve and that it is not really a budget constraint, i.e. both the RAM and VRAM bandwidth. you can surpass the figures here; you just won’t explicitly reserve the amount you want to use until you change it. This means that those who want to open browser tabs or perhaps other applications running in the background should see a bigger difference in frame rate when modifying this configuration file than players who close everything before to start the game.
Additional testing is needed before we can say for sure if this enhances the Cyberpunk 2077 experience, but there are enough players swearing it works to make it worth a try.
