BASEBALL – Wilkin and Guerrero Jr. Lions decide to win

Pedro G. Briceño

The Chosen One last night maintained his full dominion over the poor Tigers of the Licey.

Wilkin Castillo shot a single that drew 0 to 0 in the tenth and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. It followed with a long double with firewood bases for the Lions to whitewash 4-0 at the Licey, in a choice made at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium.

After this whitewash, now the scarlet pitching has left in just one round at the Licey in the last 19 innings, in which the blues only scored in the first inning of the previous clash.

The pitchers from both teams had been embroiled in a pitching duel until the final chapter when the red batsmen blew up against the Licey’s relief, who again can’t do the job.

In the tenth, Dany Jiménez transferred to Joseph Rosa, who moved to a third by simple of Estevan Florial in the left garden. With runners in the corners, Frank Garcés came in to throw the emerging Wilkin Castillo, who hit unstoppably in the center to push Rosa to the set.

Before Robinson Leyer, a double by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with full bases in the right forest safety zone towed another three for the reds.

Scarlet opener David Kubiak shot 5.2 episodes, in which he put up seven opponents and awarded two mushrooms without allowing runs, but left without a decision.

Kubiak was relevant for Rhiner Cruz (0.1), Andrés Núñez (2.0), Steven Wilson (1.0) and Samuel Adames (1.0), who do not allow blows to the blues. The victory was for Wilson (2-0) and the reverse was for Jimenez (1-1).

After the game, the Lions are 14-12, and the Tigers are 8-13.
