FRANKFORT, Ky (LEX 18) – On Wednesday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that 2,898 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kentucky. Following the removal of duplicates, the 2,898 new cases bring the total COVID-19 case from Kentucky to 230,693.
Monday’s positivity rate was 8.57%.
Governor Beshear also announced 23 new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the total to 2,262 Kentucky coronavirus-related deaths.
As of Wednesday, 1,793 Kentuckians are hospitalized for coronavirus-related reasons, 460 of them in the ICU and 239 of them with a ventilator. At least 32,402 Kentuckians have recovered from COVID-19.
Gov. Andy Beshear also announced that all eleven health facilities that are part of Kentucky’s initial release of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines have confirmed receipt.
“It’s a very exciting time. With these life-saving vaccines being administered to our front-line workers right now, we are seeing the beginning of the end of the coronavirus crisis, ”Governor Beshear said in a press release. “We also continue to see fewer cases week after week, with today’s number down from last Wednesday. All this is great news, but it will be some time before these modern medical miracles are available to everyone. Until then. “We need everyone on the Kentucky team to be patient and vigilant. Keep masking, keep your social distance, avoid unnecessary travel and congestion, and practice proper hand washing.”
