JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department says a plane went off the runway Wednesday afternoon while trying to land at Craig Airport.
JFRD said no injuries were reported, but that they were at the scene because they contained fuel leaks. Three passengers were said to have been on board.
Clayton Hammer, who was flying the Sky 4 helicopter, noted that there had been rain in the area.
“You can see the weather behind us, it’s been massively clarified,” he said. “I’m sure coming in with a fast jet like the one they have, getting in and out of the clouds will always be a difficult and difficult flight scenario.”
The plane was registered outside Sunrise, Florida. The flight plan shows that he left Opa-locka in Miami-Dade County.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
