In 2018, Gerardo Espinoza ceased to be technical director of the Atlas, but ceased to drop and lock up, he decided to prepare better. That’s how he embarked on an adventure in Europe where I learned as much as possible to later get it up and running for when the opportunity opened up in a new project.
The Jaiba Brava from Tampico Madero it was that project. The club trusted him and today has the team in the Final of the Expansion League, amb a modest picture, young and where he captures the many ideas they learned during their visit to the Old Continent, where he not only was and observed the great as Manchester City or Barcelona, but until he joined Second Division teams.
“It simply came to our notice then. As soon as I finished directing Atlas I immediately went to Europe. I visited a lot of clubs, I met a lot of coaches, managers, people from Fuerzas Básicas, players. I was several months for everyone visualizing, learning and trying to understand what they were doing there. “
“I couldn’t come here and trace what they were doing there. These are different conditions and we had to polarize, many modifications and today I find myself with this place where it allows me to develop and be able to apply what I see there and what I learned in Mexico, ”he said in an interview with Half time.
Of all his visits, the DT coupled the good, the bad, what served him and thus put together his plan on his return. In 2019 his arrival to the J is announcedaiba Brava, first as an assistant and then as a coach.
“I was in a lot of clubs. I went to Manchester City and we talked about the favor of receiving us piggy bank on the playing field, let us see how it worked; (too) Mauricio Pochetinno. We share many ideas, we saw their ideologies, we have to live each of the clubs, each club has a different internal life “, he commented.
“I also went to see lesser-known clubs like Getafe, Rayo Vallecano, which I went down. Seeing how small clubs do to survive with all these huge clubs (is important). 2020 was his first chance as DT of the Jaiba. There he began to build the nursery, using what I learned and living in Europe. He formed a team that was soon fighting and now dreams of being the first Champion of the Expansion League.
“There are players who can have the support of other teams, for example Pumas Tabasco, Tapatío; we are very far from all this, we have nowhere to go so this staff is a little wider. That planning paid off and today we are simply reaping what we planned from the beginning. We were consistent, we supported the board and when you go the same way it is easier to get results, “he said.
With this organization, Espinoza does not come to the Jaiba Brava as a surprise, but as a consequence of the work done.
