Jarvis Landry called Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters a coward after a music video showed Peters spitting at the Cleveland Browns receiver as he left Monday night.
“He’s a coward,” Landry said Thursday. “I think I knew maybe in my back I would do things like that, but in my face I wouldn’t … Now I know. Everyone knows the kind of player he is, the kind of person he is.”
The incident occurred at the end of the first quarter of Monday Night Football. Landry said he didn’t realize Peters would have spat at him until after the game, seeing a replay of ESPN’s broadcast.
“Wait until I turn around and do something like that? It’s like, do it in my face,” Landry said. “Be a man about it if you want to do something like that.”
When asked if he was worried the spit might violate any NFL COVID-19 protocol, Landry responded with, “If there’s a protocol for being a man, it’s certainly not here.”
The Ravens ended up defeating the Browns 47-42 in one of the best games of this NFL season.
Landry said he would remember the spit the next time he met Peters on the field, which could be in the AFC playoffs in case the Browns and Ravens advance to the postseason.
“I won’t lose sleep,” Landry said. “But I’ll definitely turn it into another game to remember.”
