Popular representative Ángel Matos García announced today, Thursday, that he will “put to sleep” at the DMO for the next four years after, in his perspective, the agency would not meet the expectations of goods in Puerto Rico as a tourist destination .
In an interview with Radio Isla 1320, the legislator maintains that the expenditure incurred in maintaining the agency does not justify its continuation.
“When you spend $ 75 million in the country and there are no results, that’s the same when you have a puppy in your house that you love a lot but is sick. Well, you have to put that dog to sleep,” said Matos Garcia.

“That’s what will happen in January with the DMO,” he added.
The legislator, who is shaping up to be the next spokesman for the majority in the House of Representatives, anticipates that he will “put in position” the elected governor Pedro Pierluisi of the whole situation with the DMO, because, according to him, he does not take money back to the country .
“For me, Discover (DMO) if it wants to remain as a non-profit entity, which are constituted, there is no problem. But public funding has to end, before we have another sign of mismanagement of funds,” he said. .
