LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr suffered a groin injury due to a fight late in the first quarter Thursday night and left the game, limping in the locker room with coaches from the ‘team.
His condition to return was questionable.
Carr, on the third and goal of the Los Angeles Chargers ’2-yard line, was running toward the right pylon when he got up and grabbed his left groin as he stepped out of bounds and threw football in frustration. Before leaving, Carr went from 3 to 5 for 53 yards.
Marcus Mariota entered the quarterback game for Carr in the Raiders’ next possession. It was Mariota’s first action after signing a contract with $ 7.5 million guaranteed this season.
Carr, 29, has started 108 of 110 games in the Raiders ’regular season since taking over as a starter as a rookie in Week 1 in 2014. He missed the last game of the 2016 regular season and the next playoff game with a broken leg and a game in 2017 with a broken bone in his back.
