For the first time in history, a player of the Concacaf has been included in Best XI of the FIFA. This is the Canadian side Alphonso Davies from’ Bayern from Munich who also became the third player to belong to neither Europe nor South America to receive this honor, following in the footsteps of Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast) and Samuel Eto’o (Camern).
The 20-year-old was proclaimed champions of the Champions League with Bayern in this 2020, in addition to winning the Bundesliga, the German Cup, the German Super Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. He was never named the Rookie of the 2019-20 Bundesliga Season and was named Player of the Year for the second time.
Davies became the first MLS Homegrown Player to be selected in the FIFPro World XI, as the Canadian debuted with Vancouver Whitecaps in 2016, and later became one of the most expensive signings in the history of the league, when Bayern Munich paid 10 million euros for the Canadian side.
The winger is the seven footballer who is chosen within the best team in FIFA and who have gone through MLS, after Alessandro Nesta, Kak, Thierry Henry, Steven Gerrard, David Villa and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The ideal eleven, then, was made up of Becker, Alexander-Arnold, Ramos, Van Dijk, Davies, De Bruyne, Alcantara, Kimmich, Lionel Messi, Lewandowski, Ronaldo.
