Fifteen-time Grammy Award-winning rapper Eminem released a surprise new album, “Music to Be Murdered By,” on Thursday night. The release is an accompaniment to his eleventh studio album that includes 16 new songs, including a slanted song “Zeus,” in which the rapper apologizes to Rihanna for her controversial lyrics about Chris Brown that leaked in 2019.
The new lyrics said, “But, I, as long as I promise to be sincere / And wholeheartedly, sorry, Rihanna,” raps. “For this leaked song, I’m sorry, Ri / It wasn’t meant to hurt you. Regardless, I was wrong.”
In 2019, an unreleased verse by Eminem was leaked, in which the Detroit rapper was heard saying, “Of course, I’m on Chris Brown’s side / I’d win ab **** too.” Eminem referred to the assault on the crime that Chris Brown pleaded guilty to following the altercation between then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Brown was sentenced to five years probation and community service.
Eminem’s words caught the attention of fans as Rihanna and Eminem have collaborated on many projects over the years and reached number 1 on the Billboard rap singles chart in 2010 for their song “Love the Way You Lie”. The two were also tour companions after completing their Monster tour in 2014.
Eminem addresses several other issues throughout his album, ranging from the coronavirus pandemic to the Black Lives Matter movement. The lyricist also mentions former NFL star quarterback and activist Colin Kaepernick, as well as convicted sex offenders Harvey Weinstein i Bill Cosby and accused of sex offender R. Kelly.
