The general surgeon of the United States, Dr. Jerome Adams, on Saturday, encouraged the public to be educated about Covid-19 vaccines.
“We all have more information about these vaccines, at the time of administration to the public, than we had for any vaccine in history,” Adams said during a press conference hosted by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine .
Adams said he was publicly vaccinated to help instill confidence in Covid-19 vaccines.
“My arm feels good. It’s a little sore, but no more sore than when I had the flu shot. I had no side effects, ”said Adams, who noted that it is normal for people to experience low-grade fever, headache or fatigue after receiving the vaccine.
Adams encouraged the public to seek information about vaccines.
“It simply came to our notice then. It’s good to ask questions, “he said. “What’s wrong is letting misinformation or mistrust make you make a decision that will hurt your health, that of your family, or that of your community.”
“This vaccine is almost 100% safe from preventing you or your loved one from getting serious illnesses,” Adams added. “It’s the way we end this pandemic.”
A great effort: The U.S. is harnessing all the powers and authorities it has to produce Covid-19 vaccines, Adams said.
“I can tell you, with some degree of safety in the Coronavirus Task Force, that we are doing everything we can to produce these vaccines as quickly as possible,” Adams said during a press conference hosted by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine .
Adams said the United States is on track to have 20 million doses of vaccine by the end of December; 50 million at the end of January and 100 million at the end of February.
“That’s half the U.S. adult population,” Adams noted.
He added that he is more concerned about confidence in vaccines than the supply of vaccines.
“We have to go from vaccines to vaccines,” Adams said.
