President Trump and his top advisers appear to be at loggerheads over who is to blame for the ongoing cyberattack on government and corporate computer systems, as well as their gravity.
“Cyber Hacking is much bigger in fake media than it is today,” Trump said he tweeted On Saturday, in his first public comments on the crisis, he escaped the appalling assessments of his own Department of Homeland Security.
“Russia, Russia, Russia is the priority song when anything happens,” he went on to complain, adding, “it could be China (it could be!”).
That statement diminished Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who on Friday accused Russia of being guilty of the rape, the first member of the Trump administration to do so.
“It was a very important effort,” Pompeo told radio talk show Mark Levin. “I think it is the case that we can now say very clearly that it was the Russians who took part in this activity.”
Trump linked the computer intrusion to his ongoing, unproven allegations of widespread fraud in last month’s presidential election, which he has not admitted, although this week’s Electoral College vote confirmed the victory of Joe Biden.
“It could also have been a hit on our ridiculous voting machines during the election,” he tweeted, “which is now obvious that I’ve won a lot.”
