U.S. airlines are on track to get $ 15 billion in federal aid to pay workers under the latest bipartisan coronavirus stimulus package, according to people familiar with the issue.

Under the new round of aid, carriers are expected to call back more than 30,000 workers who were paid this fall.

The CARES Act of March had allocated $ 25 billion to airlines on condition that they maintain minimum service levels and keep workers on payroll until September 30th.

Additional support for the troubled sector, previously reported by Reuters, would keep airline workers on the payroll until the end of March.
