Madeleine McCann’s main suspect, Christian Brueckner, 43, will be questioned by police, according to German prosecutors
- In June, German police named pedophile Christian Brueckner as the first suspect
- Brueckner lived near Praia da Luz station, where Maddie disappeared in 2007
- Reports stated he could never be questioned due to insufficient evidence
- But the head of the investigation, Christian Wolters, has insisted that “he will be interrogated”
The first suspect in the Madeleine McCann case will be questioned by police, German prosecutors have reported.
Convicted pedophile Christian Brueckner, 43, was identified by German police as a murder suspect 13 years after Madeleine disappeared while on holiday with her family in Portugal in 2007.
Christian Wolters, head of research on Brueckner, 43, told The Sun that when exactly questioned depends on further investigation, “but will be questioned.”
Confirmation comes after it is reported that Brueckner will never be questioned, as the prosecutor leading the investigation said police do not have enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant.

Hans Christian Wolters had said on the podcast They Have Taken Her: “At the moment our evidence is not so strong, we are sure it will be sentenced by the court.
“Maybe we need a witness who can tell us things we don’t know.”
Earlier this year Wolters revealed that he would not need to find Madeleine’s body to prosecute Brueckner for his murder.
When asked if he had forensic evidence to place Brueckner inside the apartment where Madeline slept, Mr Wolters replied: “I have an answer, but we have decided not to disclose this information.
“I can’t say‘ yes ’or‘ no ’, as that would lead to a thousand more questions and I can’t go into details.

Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters told a podcast, “We need a witness who can tell us things we don’t know.”
But you have to believe me when I say we have more evidence.
“In Germany, our prosecution only discloses things when they are solid.”
Brueckner is serving a prison sentence in Germany after being convicted of drug offenses.
He has previously been convicted of child abuse and rape.
Brueckner, who lived in the town of Praia da Luz at the time of Madelein’s disappearance, has previously said he is innocent of any crime related to the four-year-old.
