Every new year, most of us commit to giving a new sheet and adopting a healthier lifestyle. Many of these New Year’s resolutions, however, they do not last long. This is because, ironically, New Year’s celebrations are often fueled by night parties, high-calorie festive food, and consuming more alcohol than usual.
So after the New Year holidays, we end up gaining weight because of all the empty calories we consumed. The task of losing the extra pounds might seem too difficult at the time, but it’s not impossible. If losing weight or getting fit is also on the list of New Year’s resolutions, there is no time like the present. This year, achieve your goals consistent with your plans. Let’s look at five things you can do to make sure 2021 is the year you become the healthiest version of yourself, suggests Dolly Kumar, founder and director of Gaia.
A nutritious breakfast is essential

No matter how late you had the party the night before, skipping breakfast should never be an option. A rich and healthy breakfast provides you with energy throughout the day and also ensures that you will stay full for longer without feeling the need to snack between meals. To enjoy a truly healthy breakfast, you can enjoy a bowl of muesli. A bowl full of muesli contains wheat flakes, cornflakes, rolled oats and other ingredients rich in antioxidants, fiber and protein. This combination makes you feel full and helps control your weight. Aside from muesli, you can also opt for original or multigrain oats that help control cholesterol levels, maintain body weight and reduce the risk of diabetes.
Eat small meals more often

Nutrition and weight loss experts advise people to eat less, but more often. Simply put, instead of three hearty meals, you should try to eat five to six small meals each day. This is because small meals help the body convert food into energy instead of fat. This also helps the body maintain healthy blood sugar levels and prevent energy drops that can result from larger, high-calorie meals.
Smaller meals may include digestive cookies, multigrain cookies, or fiber-containing oat cookies. You can also grab a handful of trail mix that is a full forceful combination of nuts, seeds and nuts.
Focus on protein, cut out carbs

It’s no secret that the carbs and sugar in every meal can help increase body weight. Instead of filling up on carbs, try eating protein with every meal. You can eat protein in the form of lean meats like chicken and fish or a lot of vegetables like spinach, peas, broccoli and so on. Another great source of protein, spirulina, can be consumed to improve overall health and help you maintain a healthy weight. .
Extensive hydration for visible results
The most important thing to know is that if you forget to drink water for any reason, you can always trick your body into staying hydrated. (Source: Getty / Thinkstock)
Water is known to detoxify the body, help burn calories and suppress food cravings in time. Although experts suggest that you should drink at least eight glasses or two liters of water a day, this is far from the truth. The truth is that water needs differ from person to person depending on height, weight and other such parameters. If plain water is too boring for you, you can also add a little multifloral honey to make it more appealing. Honey promotes fat burning and also cures various diseases. It is also the perfect substitute for sugar.
Stay active

Your physical activity determines your health as much as the foods you eat. There are many ways to stay active during the day, including cardiovascular exercise, cycling, running, brisk walking, and more. Increase the benefits of your physical activities with a glass of green tea. This increases metabolism and acts as a powerful antioxidant that burns excess calories and reduces the risk of obesity. It also helps keep blood sugar down and reduces stress.
