This Monday the governor of California gave an assessment from his private office at home, where he is isolated, reporting the latest coronavirus numbers in the state, starting the week with alarming data on the eve of the Christmas holidays.

According to Newsom, the state is creating temporary health care centers that allow it to decongest the health system, but the current problem they face is the availability of qualified staff, So he has asked for federal help from the medical assistance team in case of disaster, as well as the Department of Defense adding 607 specialists spread across 75 facilities in 24 counties.
The president said that currently there are 62 patients who have been transferred to the four temporary hospitals currently created which are:
Imperial Valley College with 23 patients
Sacramento Sleep Train Arena with 16 patients
Porterville Development Center with 5 patients
Fairview Development Center with 18 patients currently.
Newsom said that these facilities will receive more patients once they have more staff able to care for them properly, but I assure that in the last 14 days those hospitalized for illness increased by 63%, raising the number of people in a bed of hospital to 17,190 patients.
Cases continue to rise
In the past 24 hours, the state confirmed a total of 37,892 new coronavirus infections, Which raised the percentage of positivity to 12% in terms of number of tests performed. The state has a total of 1,892,348 infections since last March.
For its part, deaths from complications with coronavirus disease have also increased, leaving 2,741 people have died in the last two weeks and a total of 22,676 deaths.
The governor urged Californians not to travel during Christmas and to keep the celebration as intimate as possible and only with the family home.
More dose of vaccine on the way
The state began its coronavirus vaccination campaign last week with the immunization developed by Pfizer, supplying more than 70,000 dosesBut Newsom said on Monday that after the FDA’s approval of the vaccine developed by Moderna, the state will receive a total of 672,600 doses this same week.
The president assured that Moderna’s vaccine does not require delicate storage like Pfizer’s, so it would be easier to distribute in the rural area of the state. The first doses of this lab version will go for the counties of Of the North, Orange, San Luis Bishop, San Joaquin, Tehama and Tuolumne.
