FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18): There are 1,988 cases of COVID-19 on Monday, in addition to the 244,297 cases of COVID-19 in Kentucky.
Gov. Andy Beshear says new cases are coming in, as the state’s positivity rate is now 8.64%, slightly lower than Sunday’s 8.73%.
There are currently 1,580 COVID-positive patients treated at Kentucky hospitals. 411 of these patients are in the ICU and 231 use a ventilator.
In Monday’s report, Governor Beshear announced that 15 more Kentuckians died after hiring COVID-19. 2,412 people have died from the virus in the state.
The main counties with the most positive cases today are Jefferson, Fayette, Kenton and Boone. Each of these counties reported 80 or more new cases; Only Jefferson County reported 376.
Among those reported lost by the virus today is an 87-year-old man from Bullitt County; a 75-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man from Caldwell County; a 72-year-old woman from Clark County; a 68-year-old man from Fayette County; an 83-year-old woman from Hopkins County; an 82-year-old woman from Jefferson County; a 61-year-old woman from Johnson County; two women, ages 76 and 92, from Livingston County; an 88-year-old woman from Muhlenberg County; a 92-year-old woman from Ohio County; an 87-year-old woman and an 88-year-old man from Owsley County; and a 61-year-old woman from Webster County.
The governor also says hospitalization rates are dropping, citing a Washington Post article that says Kentucky is the only state where no more ICU beds are used compared to three months ago.
